@JessieX - I will check that article out! Glad that my post was useful for you. I will be putting together ones for Gen X and Millennials as well. I want to keep a sales focus rather than marketing because there seems to be less about selling to generations available. I realize they are closely related, but sales is still it\\'s own animal. Good luck with the article for Network Solutions!

Perfect timing. Just agreed to write an article for Network Solutions on Marketing to Boomers (and GenXers ... and Millennials). Great work, David. As always.

There's an article -- a long one -- on Social Media vs Knowledge Management in which the author nails some hardcore gen differences. One point I remember is that Boomers don't grow up in a complex world, so "complexity" ain't there thing. Depth, internal quest, meaning -- that works for them. But, complexity? GenXers, on the other hand, grow up watching the adult world fall to pieces and, hence, understand complexity and systems from a completelyt diff perspective.

Anyhoo, the article is here - <a href="http://enterprise2blog.com/2008/09/social-media-vs-knowledge-management-a-generational-war/" target="_blank">http://enterprise2blog.com/2008/09/social-media-v...</a>

@cia007 (love the handle!) - I think some consider the \"too much information\" thing is ageist, but it's got more to do with how that generation thinks about things. Boomers, for the most part, are deeper thinkers than either Gen X or Millennials and because of it they need time to process information. The good news is if you do slow down and give them the details they will be much more likely to accept what you are presenting.

A great article! I have experienced this first-hand in the workplace with Boomers and this is a useful list to keep handy....especially the point about presenting information too quickly to them....big difference between generations there and ability to process at once!
